BBC America have made the colour version of the animated restoration The Power of the Daleks available to stream via their app.
Needing no introduction, lost for 50 years, this newly regenerated stunning hand-drawn animation (which uses the original 1966 audio) was released in black and white by BBC Store on the 5th November at 5:50pm – the exact date and time of the serials one and only broadcast on the BBC.
Taking place after the first regeneration, or ‘renewal’ as it was called then, this six-part serial sees the Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton), Polly (Anneke Wills) and Ben (Michael Craze) come face to face with the Doctors most belligerent foe whilst on the planet Vulcan.
The project was a labour of love for the team behind the recent Dad’s Army animated reconstruction A Stripe for Frazer, with character design comes from acclaimed comic book artists Martin Geraghty and Adrian Salmon (the subject of last weeks Follow Friday). The producer and director is Charles Norton.
